These are the tallest buildings and structures in San Francisco, California. All of these buildings and structures are over 600 feet in height and the tallest building in San Francisco is the 32nd tallest building in the United States. San Francisco is one of the prettiest cities in the country and most of these buildings are located near the great attractions, hotels and restaurants in the City by the Bay.
1) Sutro Tower - 977 feet
The Sutro Tower is located on Clarendon Heights and at 977 feet is the tallest structure in San Francisco. Sutro Tower was built from 1971 to 1973 as a TV tower to aid reception in the area and is owned by the four major TV stations in San Francisco and named after former mayor Anthony Sutro who owned a mansion about 100 feet from the tower's location. If one looks closely the Sutro Tower is visible in the background of many photographs of the Golden Gate Bridge.
2) Transamerica Pyramid - 853 feet
At 853 feet the Transamerica Pyramid is the tallest building in San Francisco and 32nd tallest building in the United States and is located at 600 Montgomery Street. With its unique design the Transamerica Pyramid is one of the most recognized buildings in the country and was the 48 floor building was constructed from 1969 to 1972. It was built for insurance giant Transamerica which was acquired by AEGON in 1999 and no longer has its headquarters in the building.
3) 555 California Street - 779 feet
555 California Street is the 2nd tallest building in San Francisco and used to be known as the Bank of America Center and served as the headquarters of Bank of America until 1999. In 2007 Vernado Realty Trust and Donald Trump teamed up to buy the 52 floor 555 California Street building which is conveniently located near the best hotels and restaurants in San Francisco.
4) 345 California Center - 695 feet
345 California Center is 48 floors high and located right in the heart of San Francisco's financial district. 345 California Center is a hotel, retail and office building which has twin spires with two glass skybridges between which offer fantastic views of the city and all its great sites and tourist attractions.
5) Millennium Tower - 645 feet
Millennium Tower is located at 301 Mission Street in the financial district but the tower is a high-rise residential condominium complex and not an office building that is located near many great restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions in San Francisco. The 58 floor Millennium Tower was built from 2005-2009 and contains some of the priciest real estate residences in the country with the penthouse units going for about $12 million apiece.
6) One Rincon Hill South Tower - 641 feet
The One Rincon Hill South Tower is the last of the buildings in San Francisco that are greater than 600 feet in height. Located at 425 First Street One Rincon Hill South Tower was built from 2006-2008 and is a residential complex with 376 condo units offering spectacular views of San Francisco.
